2D to 3D Opens Doors to a Wide Range of Opportunities

I've been interested in consumer 3D for many, many years.  Frankly, it's been both encouraging on the one hand, as technology has advanced, and frustrating on the other as software complexity and shortcomings has limited consumer demand.

But, the light at the end of the tunnel has come from, what for me, is an unlikely source... Autodesk.

It comes in the form of an Autodesk Labs technology preview called Project Photofly that opens up a developing 2D to 3D service to the public.  For now the service is free.  Of course, it is a developing technology.  So, it's not absolutely perfect.  And, the mesh it produces may or may not be immediately useful for serious gamers, etc.

But, that does not mean that even in its infancy that it cannot be imminently useful and a whole lot of fun.

This blog will be dedicated to helping others get the most out of Photofly and to encourage others to put Photofly into use in a wide variety of applications.

There is one thing for sure, it's going to be a LOT of fun.
